Texas Barbecue of Canada Celebrates One Year of Smoking Success
New Dessert Launch and Community Thanks Highlight August 1 Milestone
Desbarats, ON – On August 1, Texas Barbecue of Canada (TBC) will mark its first year in business with something sweet: the launch of their brown sugar peach cobbler, served warm with rich vanilla ice cream. This Southern-style dessert kicks off the next chapter for a restaurant that has quickly become a destination for food lovers from across Canada.
Located on Highway 17E in Desbarats, TBC has served over 24,000 guests since opening and now employs 15 people. Open year-round, the restaurant brings authentic Texas flavors to Ontario with smoked brisket, ribs, chicken, and pulled pork — and now signature desserts.
“It took us three years to build Texas Barbecue of Canada, and we’re proud to celebrate this milestone with the community that made it possible,” said owner Jon Kettles. “Kate’s from Texas, I’m from here. We built this place together to bring the food we love to the people and region we love.”
Jon continued, “Our staff has played a huge role in turning an idea into something real and lasting, and the encouragement we’ve received from customers who are so happy we’re here has meant everything.”
Looking ahead, year two promises new menu additions, including holiday meals like smoked turkey and ham, house-made sausages, and smoked beef tallow — a richly flavorful cooking fat perfect for frying or brushing onto baked potatoes, just like in the TBC kitchen.
“We’re just getting started,” said Jon. “We want to be the reason people explore this part of Ontario — and keep coming back.”
The anniversary celebration takes place August 1 at the restaurant. As always, everyone is welcome.
